This note explores the apple value chain in Gilgit-Baltistan, where high-quality production contrasts sharply with fragile post-harvest systems. Based on field insights, it highlights losses, price volatility, and structural bottlenecks, and identifies practical interventions in cooling, aggregation, and finance to unlock value, stabilize grower incomes, and strengthen mountain horticulture economies.
