Offline Payments Innovation Challenge
Patchy network coverage limits digital payment adoption in remote, congested, or low-signal areas. Karandaaz seeks solutions that enable consistent, reliable access to digital financial services, even in connectivity-challenged environments. Shortlisted proposals will be required to illustrate the recommended solution and establish a proof of concept before an expert panel of judges.
Last date to submit applications is September 01, 2025

Category A – Partially Offline Payment Solutions (One-Sided Connectivity)
Karandaaz seeks proposals that address the challenge of digital payments in situations where either the payer or the payee lacks active network connectivity at the time of the transaction. This category focuses on enabling reliable, secure payment experiences in semi-connected environments, such as urban basements, congested marketplaces, or rural outskirts where one party may be offline. Proposals should explore innovative mechanisms that allow transactions to be initiated and completed despite temporary disconnection on one side. Applicants must demonstrate how their approach maintains transactional
integrity, allows for reconciliation once connectivity is restored, and fits within the broader ecosystem of Raast-enabled payments. Proposed models must adhere to regulatory standards, ensure data security, and offer practical viability for deployment at scale.

Category B – Fully Offline Payment Solutions (Dual Disconnection)
This category invites proposals aimed at overcoming the limitations of digital payments in completely offline scenarios, where both the payer and the payee are simultaneously disconnected from the network. Such conditions are common in geographically isolated regions, during natural disasters, or within deeply embedded structures lacking signal reception. Karandaaz is looking for approaches that rethink how trust, authentication, and payment confirmation can be managed without relying on real-time connectivity. Solutions must demonstrate feasibility within the existing financial infrastructure and highlight how synchronization, validation, and record-keeping can be ensured once either party regains network access. Proposals should clearly articulate their sustainability, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and their potential to expand the reach of Raast Digital Payments to the most underserved and infrastructure-deficient parts of the country.

Applicants must have the technical capacity, a sound implementation plan, and a clear understanding of the regulatory and operational dynamics of Pakistan’s financial services landscape.
Collaborative proposals that combine on-ground field knowledge with technical innovation are especially encouraged. All applicants must show a strong commitment to sustainability, compliance, and impact, and should be able to demonstrate a track record or credible potential to implement and scale their proposed solutions effectively.
